Hold up, I'll hook you up with a moist devil's food that is superior to packet mix.
From my dear old Aunt Eva.
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
.5 cup cocoa
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
.5 cup shortening (I use butter)
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup hot water
Mix dry except soda. Add egg, vanilla and butter. Stir through.
Pour hot water over soda, add to mixture, bake in 8x8 pan at 350f for 35'
